Wreck KKK, a modern powerboat, was located during the 2001 sonar survey and verified in October 2002. The vessel, located in Malletts Bay, was a cabin cruiser with a length of approximately 34ft (10.4m). No registration numbers could be located, however, the vessel does have a “Courtesy State Police Inspection 1992” sticker and a “Malletts Bay Marina Owner 233” sticker. The condition of the vessel indicates that it was disposed of in the lake. It appears as though the electronics gear and the wheel were salvaged before the boat was scuttled.
Please contact the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum if you know the circumstances behind the loss of this vessel.
