Shot, Bar
Object/Artifact
Artifact 00-07 consists of a 12cm long wrought iron bar with a 4" diameter wrought iron head on both ends. This piece of ordnance was fired out of a 9-pound cannon and was designed to tumble through the air, damaging an enemy vessel's sails and rigging. Ordinary barshot is made by splitting round shot in half and welding each half onto either end of the bar. The end pieces here were forged without the half shell casting, so they are slightly misshapen "doorknobs" rather than perfect semi spheres.
