3D Scanning Historic Artifacts

August 15 , 10:30 am 12:30 pm

Digital artifacts and 3D-printed replicas have become increasingly common in museums in the past few years. Have you ever wondered how it all worked?  Come to the Museum and learn how our team uses 3D scanning to immortalize artifacts and bring the past into the future.

Many thanks to Vermont State University – Castleton for their support of the project and their 3-D scanning skills!

Accessibility: The program will take place in the Nautical Archaeology Center’s new exhibit, “Underwater Archaeology: Diving into the Stories of People and Canal Boats on Lake Champlain,” which can be accessed via ramp or two steps. Photosensitive visitors please be aware that 3D scanners use flashing lights to pick up data.
