Eclipse Watching at the Museum
April 8 , 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Want to watch the solar eclipse away from busy roads and buildings? Come watch the eclipse for free at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum! We are opening our grounds for anyone looking for a unique spot to gather with family and friends and watch this amazing natural phenomenon. Bring a picnic and snacks (and a good picnic blanket as the ground might be cold or a little soft), friends, and your eclipse gear. Museum exhibits and the store will not be open yet for the season, but we will open our Welcome Center bathrooms for public use.
Please RSVP in advance if you plan on joining us at the Museum to watch the eclipse! We will have a limited number of eclipse glasses available on a first come, first served basis. You’re also welcome to bring your own glasses or viewers – learn how to safely view a solar eclipse here.
Update as of March 12, 2024: Our RSVP list is currently full! We recommend checking the Vermont Solar Eclipse events page for other eclipse watching spots and events. Please contact us at info@lcmm.org if you have questions about your RSVP.
Note: The image above is a fun dramatization of a solar eclipse. It combines a photograph of a solar eclipse taken from a satellite set as a background behind the Museum’s Key to Liberty exhibit building. This is not what the actual solar eclipse will look like at the Museum.
