Free museums help kids grow

What happens when young people have a free museum in their community? Lots!

When families and young people don’t have to pay admission fees to enter a museum, they don’t have to budget their cultural experiences. They can return to their favorite exhibits and spaces as frequently as they like. And they can access hands-on learning experiences, fishing, sailing, kayaking, and more.

Ever since we removed our admission fees here at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, we have seen more and more young people coming to the museum with boundless curiosity and energy. And by offering pay-what-you-can camps and expeditions, kids and teenagers can join us to discover new options for themselves, make new friends, develop team building skills, and grow their self-confidence.

As we’ve seen this year, when young people have access to a free museum, they get to experience the joy of learning new things and making new connections over and over. We’re so grateful to our community for their support of our free admission and pay-what-you-can summer programs. With this support, we’ve created a joyful space for young people to connect and learn.

Want to get involved and support our free admission initiative? A donation of any amount to the Museum before the end of the year goes directly towards supporting free admission and pay-what-you-can programs for kids. Learn more about the impact of a donation and give today.
